How does the steel behave under gradually increasing loads?

The tensile test
For the tensile test, a normalised tensile rod (sample) is clamped in a tensile test bench. Force is then applied to the sample. The tensile rod will stretch until it eventually breaks.
Elastic elongation and then plastic elongation (permanent) will occur during this test. At the same time, the stress-strain diagram is recorded.
The mechanical properties such as the modulus of elasticity, yield strength, tensile strength and breaking elongation are then determined based on this diagram.

We have two tensile benches (150 KN and 1250 KN).


We measure and interpret the results using state-of-the-art software.
